How we work

From first message to the flight home

Every trip is private and planned to order. This is what happens at each step, and who you deal with.

Step by step

One team from start to finish

1

Tell us what you have in mind

Send the form, write or call. Where, when, roughly how long and who is travelling is enough to start.

2

A specialist replies within 24 hours

The specialist for that country writes back with a few questions and a first idea of route and price.

3

Your itinerary and quote

A day-by-day plan with the hotels we suggest and a full price, taxes included. Asking costs nothing and commits you to nothing.

4

Change anything

Swap a hotel, add a night, slow the pace. Most trips take one or two rounds; take as many as you need.

5

Confirm and pay the deposit

We confirm the hotels, guides and transport in writing, then ask for the deposit. The deposit is shown on your quote, and the balance is due 70 days before you arrive.

6

Before you leave

Your travel documents: the final day-by-day plan, hotel confirmations, the names of your driver and guides, and the number of your contact. We arrange Bhutan visas and the permits Ladakh's restricted areas require, and explain how to get the others.

7

On the road

Your driver meets you at arrivals. Guides join you in each place. One contact who knows your trip answers day and night until you fly home.

Timing

When to start planning

Good hotels in India, Nepal, Bhutan and Sri Lanka are small and fill early in the high season. As a rough guide:

October to March
Three to six months ahead gives the best choice of hotels.
Christmas, New Year, festival dates
Six to twelve months ahead. These weeks fill first, especially Bhutan's spring and autumn festivals.
Weddings, big families, groups
Six to twelve months ahead, so that everyone can stay in the same hotels.
April to September
A few weeks can be enough, though Ladakh in July and August books up early.
Short notice
Ask anyway. We often find a way.
