What you love
Beaches
Quiet beaches in Kerala, the islands of the Andaman Sea, the south coast of Sri Lanka: the best way to end a journey, or to spend a whole one.
Each coast has its season. India's west coast and Sri Lanka's south and west are best from December to March or April; Sri Lanka's east coast is best from May to September, when the monsoon is on the other side.
We prefer the quieter beaches and smaller hotels: a fishing village in Kerala rather than a resort strip, a villa near Galle rather than a big hotel.
